Wind Creek State Park Camping

People that love to fish come to Lake Martin quite often, and for good reason. People that love to camp while fishing, well they come here, too. We camped here in August of 2009 which is peak heat season in Alabama. Thankfully, the lake is great for swimming and cooling off! Our daughter stopped by to visit us while we were here and brought Gracie along, which is always a good thing. She really enjoyed the wildlife that was near our campsite.

Wind Creek State Park is located at 4325 Alabama Highway 128, Alexander City, AL 35010. The phone number is 256-329-0845. With 626 modern campsites spread over 320 acres, Wind Creek State Park has the largest state-operated campground in the United States. Campfires, outdoor grilling, bicycling and hiking are all part of the camping experience at Wind Creek. Fully equipped, modern campground; each site provides picnic table, grill, water and electricity. Bathhouses are located throughout the sections of the campground with a playground centrally located.

Camping.

When we arrived at the park, the best camping spots were already taken but we did manage to get one near the water. It was the greatest site but certainly wasn't the worst. It was close to the stage and playground which Gracie was thankful for. We even got to see and Elvis impersonator while camped here. He was pretty good, too. I forget how long we stayed here but it was long enough to ride the area on the scooters. If you live close enough and you like to fish and/or camp, be sure to visit Wind Creek State Park.

We visited here in 08/2009.
